RENOVACIÓN DE ARRECIFES: Unprecedented Scale, Driven by Locals, Guided by Experience, Focused on Resilience = Transformational Reef Restoration

General project objectives:

  • Rebuild the Cayo Largo reef system with enhanced physical and biological resilience by propagating Acropora palmata and opportunity corals.​

  • Provide an alternative source of income for some of the island’s most economically vulnerable residents.​

  • Establish the foundation for a robust scientific and monitoring program.​

  • Promote coral reef conservation education among children and youth through hands-on learning experiences.​

Community Empowerment: Coral Technician Training

 We are initiating a Coral Restoration Training Program with a fisher man.

The idea with this is program is dedicated to providing SCUBA diving and coral restoration training to a few of the most at-need residents of the island, equipping them with the skills and knowledge necessary for future work in the emerging Restoration Blue Economy.
